Hello everybody. We’re well on our way into Virgo Season (August 23rd-September 22nd), and I’m late to the Virgo Season posting party.
Estimated reading time: 10 minutes
You may be wondering why I used the 2 of Swords as the image for this Virgo Season post. I found this image (left) on Pexels and I immediately thought, “This person looks like the two of swords! Shutting out the world and protecting their energy! Retreating.” This is what I plan to do with the rest of this Virgo Season. Let me elaborate though. It isn’t wise to ignore the crisis going on in the world. Many people are hurting right now and fighting for their rights to live. We can’t deny that and pretend that everything is OK up in our ivory towers. However, sometimes we have to take a step back and remember what it is that we are fighting for. When we feel overwhelm and confusion, we have to check back in with ourselves, our reasons, and good old logic.
We have to ask ourselves, why are we here? What are we fighting for?
I don’t know about you but I’ve felt very disconnected from these questions all summer as I endlessly scrolled on social media and saw bad news after bad news after bad news. If you are like me, know that it is OK to step back and recover. Stepping back brings us some of our greatest ideas and our most creative solutions. We need these things now more than ever.
2020 has been a series of shit storms, piled on shit storms. At first it was confusing and scary. Now it is simply even more confusing and even more scary. If we don’t take care of our individual energy, we will continue to struggle. I believe in magic but I don’t believe that a cure for Corona Virus will magically heal everything and all will be back to normal. We have a long fight ahead of us folks. We gotta take care of ourselves.
So as I channel the 2 of Swords and take a step back, I feel into Virgo energy for inspiration on how I can better support my community in the fight for justice and equal rights.
Some Virgo Keywords To Keep In Mind As You Read This Article:
Virgo in a high form is associated with Logic, Order, and Health
Virgo in a low form is Overly-Critical, Obsessive, and a Perfectionist
As we step back from the fight and consider how we can best flow with the high vibe Virgo Season energy, we see that there is a focus on staying healthy (to beat the virus), creating order (to beat the chaos that consumes us), and bringing logic to discussions (to end the war that is occurring right in front of our faces).

What I am seeing in America right now is a series of blame cycles. “Trump and the Republicans are racist, sexist, and caused us to be where we are now”, “Joe Biden and the democrats want chaos/disorder and want to hand our country over to China; therefore, letting immigrants run this country and take our jobs”, “black lives matter is looting, rioting and causing all this chaos”, “police officers are the ones creating this chaos by pointing guns at us rather than listening to us”, “people who wear masks are Democratic monkey’s who want to take away my freedom”, “people who don’t wear masks are Republican narcissists who only think of themselves and want this virus to continue spreading”.
And the list goes on… I want to stop this right here because although I agree with some of these things and STRONGLY disagree with others, I have found a key issue with all of these blame cycles…
THEY ARE BLAME CYCLES! We are obsessing over these statements, being overly critical of entire groups of people, and are not addressing the root problems.
These statements aren’t considering the evolution of events that have occurred throughout history, and they are simply putting the blame of a million different issues (racism, a pandemic, and general mass chaos, just to name a few), on one group of people. These statements are intermixing these groups of people and classifying them into either Democrat or Republican. What I’m mostly hearing people say is that it’s either the Democrats who caused the chaos or the Republicans who caused it.
We gotta understand that this is extremely generalized and highly false.
Police are not Donald Trump are not “non-maskers” are not Christians are not Republicans.
ANTIFA are not Joe Biden are not “mask monkey’s” are not Black Lives Matter are not Democrats.
And I could go on and on with this list. Point is, we have to step back and see that these groups are not all the same things with the same agenda’s. Democrats are not all of these things. Republicans are not all of these things. These things are not black and white. These things blend and have shades of gray. Democrats are not solely to blame. Republicans are not solely to blame.
No One Thing Is To Blame For Where We Are Now.
Our country was built on colonization, genocide, and Indian burial grounds. How about we start there? Maybe that is what caused this chaos? Oh wait, what about the Trans-Atlantic slave trade? Shouldn’t we start there. How about we take it all the way back to Jesus’s Resurrection!?! Doesn’t that event still play a major role in how we function as a society? Even events that seemed to be beneficial in some way to some specific group of people, cause major harm for years and years to come. We can’t predict the cause of our actions. You see, we can keep looking further and further back in time, and we will never find one soul reason to blame for where we are now. Life is all a series of unfortunate events. And a series of fortunate events! There is good in this world and there is bad. We cannot define one political group as good and one as bad. We cannot define one activist group as good and one as bad. There is good and bad in every single one of us, and until we stop blaming each other and start being accountable for the good and the bad things we’ve individually contributed to this life, we will never break these cycles.
Now I say all this as a hypocrite, myself. This is hard work. I’ve been blaming specific groups/people all year. I blame the people who walk around mask-less and spread this deadly virus to me and my family. I blame the police for shooting before letting us speak. I blame Donald Trump for providing a complete and udder lack of leadership. I blame Donald Trump for saying the government needs to dominate and control it’s citizens. I blame Donald Trump for shooting rubber bullets at people just to hold a bible upside for a photo op. Clearly I blame Donald Trump for A TON of things! But he is not the sole reason for this chaos. One man is not solely to blame for America falling to pieces. One man is not solely to blame for the years of systemic racism in this country. One man is not solely to blame for creating this pandemic. Although this one man is not helping, there is a long series of unfortunate events that all played pivotal roles in getting us to where we are now.
Who does me blaming Donald Trump actually help?
High Form Virgo
We have to zoom out. What are the problems here? What are we fighting for? What are the facts? Virgo Season is asking us to be detailed and answer these questions thoroughly, for ourselves. What is the root of everyone’s issues? Not just our own personal issues, but EVERYONE’S issues. Don’t we all want the same damn thing? And isn’t that thing freedom and justice for all?! All – including black lives, trans lives, immigrant lives, etc. (side note: you cannot claim that “All Lives Matter” if you don’t believe that the immigrant children trapped in cages at the border matter; or if you don’t believe that a trans male or trans female having the right to basic healthcare or a non discriminatory work environment matters; or if you don’t believe that the countless black men and women being MURDERED by police matter.)
We have to look at historical patterns. We have to break these cycles. We have to see each other as human beings. We have to stop blaming one group or one person for all of America’s shit storms. We have to stop boxing each other in. We have to tap into that high vibe Virgo energy of Logic, Order, and Health. Not just for ourselves but for our neighbors. For all human beings. But we have to get creative though. What we were doing pre-pandemic, wasn’t working! Our systems need to evolve. We have to put down the weapons and LISTEN TO EACH OTHER.
Let’s tap into that 2 of Swords energy and move our focus from blaming the rest of the world, to being accountable for our personal contributions to the chaos. The 2 of Swords card and the Virgos I know have a lot in common, they want to be left alone to process things. If this is what you need at this time, flow with it! Retreat for a minute, step away from the blame cycles, and get a bird’s eye view of the problems we are all facing right now.
But I’m Just A Hippy Who Wants Peace And Love, What Do My Words Matter In Times Of War?
I’ll be very transparent with you all right now. Politics are new to me. This is my first year voting. I am a young person who wants to make change in the world and finally start contributing to society by voting. And I want to make sure I make an informed vote and choose the candidate that most aligns with my values.
So a few months ago, I took an online test to find out if I was left or right, liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican. And guess what?!? I was damn near right in the middle of these 4 areas! So now what?! I was slightly left of course, but I was not vastly Liberal Democrat. I have some Republican views, I guess. What I’ve learned from my newfound involvement in politics this year is that you can’t simply group a person into one of these 4 boxes. We are not either Democrat or Republican, or Liberal or Conservative. We are human beings! We are undefined. We all have the ability to change, adapt, and evolve over time. We have the ability to understand both sides. And both sides have the ability to adapt their policies to account for basic human rights.
So if you are wondering why you should listen to me, know that you should listen to me because I am a human who is making every effort to see from both sides. I am not perfect and will not be perfect. I am impatient. I cut people off when they speak sometimes, I cry when I feel like I am unheard, I change my mind on the daily (Hello Mutable Placements). But I am working on these parts of myself. I am taking this quarantined year to review what it is that I’ve done in my life up until this point. I am seeing how I’ve contributed to the collective madness we are experiencing right now, and I am pivoting. I am learning. I am holding myself accountable. But most importantly, I am doing the best I can to not blame myself and others for the chaos that surrounds us.
I hope you all find some shred of inspiration in this and look to do the same. But I know now that I can’t blame you if you don’t! I can only control me, my thoughts, my reactions, and my contributions. Blame does nothing but spin the wheel of chaos round and round. There is no end to blame.
End notes: I almost didn’t post this post. It feels like, in the chaotic world we live in, nothing I say matters. It feels like there is no end to this war. It feels like everyone will hate what I say no matter what. But I speak anyway. This may not make sense now, in the thick of it. But maybe a few years down the line, this post will make sense. That’s the funny thing about history, we don’t know the impact current events will have on future generations. We don’t know if this is “one for the history books”. We don’t know if they will have history books. We don’t even know if this is the most chaotic time they’ve ever learned about. This may be small potatoes compared to the lives they are living. All we can do is say how we feel and do the best we can. Even if we mess up and don’t say things perfectly, at least we said something.
