Capricorn Season:
12/21/20 to 1/19/21
Estimated reading time: 8 minutes
Leave it to Capricorns to start their season off with a busy holiday season! Between Christmas and New Years, Capricorns really don’t have time to stop moving. Like their symbol the goat, they always gotta be climbing up that mountain.
With that being said, I don’t really resonate with the cliche “Capricorns are workaholics” stereotype. While Capricorns are driven and determined to get things done, they are also structured and patient. They understand the importance of self care and taking things slowly. Self care isn’t always about stopping and taking a bath, or laying in bed all day. Things like meditation and exercise are also forms of self care. Many people believe that the purpose of meditation is to shut down the brain and stop thinking; but, that’s just not true. Meditation is for being aware of your thoughts and for slowing down the overwhelm in the brain. Meditating ultimately makes us more productive and Capricorns are all about finding ways to stay productive.
The Capricorn Archetype in American Society
As we become conscious of our capitalistic society and the ways it affects our day to day life, we realize the good and the bad qualities. Many of the bad things we’re discovering, like overworking and prioritizing sales over feelings, can be associated with the negative side of Capricorn. This past year, as we’ve discovered all this times 10 with Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter tearing it up in Capricorn; many of us are pretty much over the negative sides of capitalism. We’re tired, and we need help. We want equality and don’t see the need to constantly plow up hill and make everything bigger and “better”. Coronavirus has shown us that we need to break it down and simplify life. We need to slow down and respect our neighbors and our Earth. While this may feel like the opposite of Capricorn, this is actually a very Capricornian concept as well.
I’m seeing so many posts about how people are done with Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn and would like for Capricorn to f**k right off and let everything move on into Aquarius. I’ve even said this myself! I’m tired of the big boss, billionaire, capitalist Capricorn energy; however, I think it’s irresponsible to only see Capricorn in this light. Everything has a negative and positive side. Although Jupiter and Saturn have moved on, Pluto will still be hanging out in Capricorn until 2024 so we still have much to learn about this zodiac sign.
Capricorn is patient and Capricorn is calculated. As an Earth sign, Capricorn has the ability to slow down and care for the Earth. We’ve just been stuck in the negative cycle for too long. But big boss, billionaire, capitalism wasn’t always a negative thing and still isn’t negative to many people. I can’t stress it enough…there are positives and negatives to EVERYTHING in life.
Every single zodiac sign provides us with many life lessons. So don’t count Capricorn out and move right along to the cooky, fun, alien, Aquarius energy (there are negatives to Aquarius as well…but we’ll get to that in another post). We all have Capricorn inside of us. We all have responsibilities and goals. For me personally, the question is not, “how do we end capitalism and eliminate all billionaires?” The question is, “how do I personally evolve through this negative Capricorn energy and use the positive Capricorn traits to expand and grow into Aquarius?”
We don’t just cancel out Capricorn and jump to Aquarius. We evolve and we flow from one sign to the next. So I urge you for the remainder of this Capricorn Season, to challenge yourselves and take full responsibility for your contributions to society. We can’t eliminate Capricorn from our lives, and we shouldn’t want to. The G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) trudging up the mountain is a powerful archetype for all of us to embody. It’s just about HOW we embody it that matters.
Capricorn in the Houses
(Keep in mind, the other planets and aspects you have in your chart may affect this interpretation. This is my general understanding of Capricorn in the houses based on keywords and intuition)
The houses in the natal chart represent different areas of your life. Skip ahead to your rising sign in order to see where in your life you have Capricorn GOAT (greatest of all time) energy.
1st House (Capricorn Rising)- With the first house representing ones attitudes and identity; Capricorn Risings are just straight up the GOAT’s. They are the greatest of all times at being the greatest of all times. And I’m not just saying this because I’m a Capricorn Rising…OK maybe I am 😉 Capricorn Rising’s don’t necessarily think they are great at everything (or anything really- we can be pretty hard on ourselves); but, they do strive to be the best versions of themselves at all times. That’s why they are hard on themselves. They know when they’ve done something wrong and could have been better and they make darn sure they get it right the next time!
2nd House (Sagittarius Rising)- With the second house being the house of possessions and money, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs when it comes to obtaining the things they value. They really know how to take care of their own finances. This is not to say Sagittarius risings don’t have ups and downs when it comes to money, but they know their worth and are not afraid to negotiate (think: Kim Kardashian and Oprah Winfrey).
3rd House (Scorpio Rising)- With the third house being the house of communication, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs when it comes to teaching and organizing small groups. They make some of the best managers and really know how to care for, as well as push others to their fullest potential. Scorpio risings also take their relationships with their siblings very seriously and strive to be the best possible brothers and sisters.
4th House (Libra Rising)- With the fourth house being the house of the home, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs at providing a safe and secure home life for everyone under their roof. While they may not be the most nurturing in this area, they keep everyone safe in a practical sense by making sure the home has everything it needs. Libra risings also make excellent decorators and really know how to maximize a rooms functionality.
5th House (Virgo Rising)- With the fifth house being the house of pleasure, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs at playing games. They love to have fun and play games, but they also take winning very seriously. Virgo risings have the MOST fun when they win, but really, who doesn’t?
6th House (Leo Rising)- With the sixth house being the house of health and service, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs at organizing and scheduling things for themselves and others. You can call them Kings and Queens of the calendars. Leo risings often have mental and physical routines that they stick to like glue.
7th House (Cancer Rising)- With the seventh house being the house of relationships, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs at working with others. They know how to connect with others to get the job done. Cancer risings aren’t necessarily the most nurturing in the relationship department, but they will make sure their partners (in business and in love) have everything they need in a practical sense.
8th House (Gemini Rising)- With the eighth house being the house of sex, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs of sexuality. They are not afraid to get down and dirty. Flirting and sex appeal comes naturally to them. Gemini risings really know how to flash their smiles and a charming word in order to get what they need.
9th House (Taurus Rising)- With the ninth house being the house of philosophy, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs of inspiration. They are the best at giving advice and are always looking to expand their own minds. When you need practical, real world solutions for your ethical problems, find your Taurus Rising friends.
10th House (Aries Rising)- With the tenth house being the public image house, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs of the social life. They are not afraid to put themselves out there and get some attention. Again, they may not be the most nurturing socialites, but they are the greatest at commanding a room. Aries risings demand respect and will do whatever it takes to get rewarded properly for their efforts.
11th House (Pisces Rising)- With the eleventh house being the house of friendships, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs of networking. They know many people and know how to work with them to get things accomplished for the greater good. Pisces risings are great at picking up on group energy, but this can be overwhelming and if they aren’t careful, could be one contributing factor leading them to addiction.
12th House (Aquarius Rising)- With the twelfth house being the house of the unconscious, people with Capricorn in this house are the GOATs of creativity. They can reach into the depths of the mind and pull out the most mind blowing creations. Aquarius risings have big imaginations and have a way of bringing their wildest dreams to life.
So there you have it, we are all GOATs in our own unique ways. Let me know in the comments if your Capricorn house did or did not resonate in any way! Keep in mind, this is a surface level understanding of astrological keywords. We can either embody the positive keywords, or the negative keywords and we can either fully embrace this house and this energy, or have some blockages here. For example, I have my Moon, Neptune, and Uranus all in Capricorn with Uranus conjunct the Ascendant. This gives my Capricorn rising a little extra oomf and individuality.
While I have provided a basic understanding above, there is always more to discover below.
